Animal Tendencies: $2 shirt

retrogirl

ANIMAL TENDENCIES: $2 shirt

Oh, HELLO! It's been a while since my last post! Make no mistakes, I've been squandering money at the thrift store left and right (I keed, I keed)...but yes...life has been full of change, business, and work! Also, there have been beach days...lazy, lazy beach days. For me, actually being able to "turn off" my brain and completely relax on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan is a wonderful luxury. As a person who struggles with sitting on the couch long enough to make it through a 30 minute sitcom, finding a little "zen" in my day can be next to impossible. Therefore, as this summer blazes by, I've been taking advantage of any spare time I have with wonderful, indulgent sunning by the lake with my friends, family and boyfriend. And life is good.

What have you been up to?

As the title suggests, I picked up this little knit leopard print turtleneck shirt for $2 at Hope's Outlet on Saturday, along with some other neat finds. I promise to make more of an effort to share my thrifting gems with you. I feel as though I've missed a thousand blog opportunities with all of the cool items I've bought secondhand this year, and they deserve to be brought to light!

Before that happens though, I have both a guerrilla fashion tutorial and a DIY coming this week! Stay tuned!

St. Vincent De Paul of Munising, Michigan

St. Vincent De Paul of

Munising, Michigan

Here I am, weeks after vacation and just now getting around to editing and sharing my pictures! Oh, the shame! The truth is that my life has just now returned to normal, and it’s about to be uprooted again by fall school schedules, portrait sessions, and all of the other things I have quickly filling my agenda.

Alas! Vacation seems a far away dream now, along with the beautiful Pictured Rocks of Munising, Michigan. I took so many wonderful pictures on our sunset cruise that I haven’t even begun to edit yet! The town of Munising itself was so quaint and small. I really appreciated the local beauty and unlike so many other destination spots, prices on just about everything are very reasonable—including the thrift! I won’t tell you that there was a HUGE abundance of fabulous clothing to be had, but it was certainly fun looking, and I did score some gems.

One of the highlights on the downtown Munising streets was definitely this colorful building—St. Vincent De Paul’s! The owners were very friendly and it was just so darn cute in there. The day I arrived, the “bargain basement” downstairs was boasting a $5 bag sale (“Anything Goes!”) and so I couldn’t resist! I found some prize items and also snapped these pictures as I sniffed around. I’d recommend popping in if you are the area!

Welcome to Munising! (Reflection in the store window. )

I really did want to bring this cute as heck retro furniture set back with me
(there were several pieces) in marigold and sea foam. Sigh.

Things were staged quite cutely upstairs.

...If I had been in the market for a cat cookie jar...Is it too late to drive back and get this???

The basement was painted just as adorably as the outside of the building. It was so fun! I must say the basement was also very clean indeed. It was fun to peruse.

I say it's a must stop for thrifting in the upper peninsula of Michigan if you make it to Munising!

Loads of Bull: $3.50 kitsch

$3.50 Kitsch:

Things I Cannot Resist

Awkward Velour Bullfighter Painting: $2.00

What part of the bull are we seeing? Why has this matador seemingly stabbed this bull in the butt? This and more marvelously mysterious questions abound!!!

“Worry Worry!” mug: $.49

My God. Never in my life has a vintage mug spoken to me more clearly.

Red and white polka tablecloth: $1

It’s cloth, it’s polka dot, it’s my new “beach throw” for relaxing on the shores of Lake Michigan in pure retro style.

What have you found this week thrifting? Are you still ALIVE? Are you baked to a crisp?

Thrift For The Belly

You can thrift maternity, too!

And if you're like my friend Kerra, you'll make pregnancy look good. :) I wanted to share her cute patterned knit dress and woven handbag that were both Goodwill purchases totaling $8! If you are expecting, there's no reason that you can't thrift your way through a stylish pregnancy with a little time and even less cash. ;) If you'd like to see her entire maternity session, check out the folder on Pineapple Chantal Photography!

Rachel's Dress

It was a pleasure to photograph and visit with my friend Rachel, a fellow thrifter who resides in my hometown. The cute dress she has on was a two dollar thrift find from Goodwill! Very cute pattern and colors but honestly, I have a feeling she could pull off just about anything. A lovely girl who has a Hellenistic quality in these photos that I just adore.

If you'd like to see the entire photography session, please feel free to stop by my Facebook page atPineapple Chantal Photography and check them out! I'm open for business for local portraiture. :)

Have a happy Tuesday! What have you thrifted this week?
