Thrifted Plaid Shirt Dress

THRIFTED PLAID SHIRT DRESS

It was two dollars! I purchased in on Sherman Avenue in Muskegon at Hope's Outlet a few weeks ago while thrifting with my mom, and decided to pair it with these fun brown Mossimo cowboy boots from Target and a vintage cat pin! I also thrifted the lovely rhinestone bead costume ring.  Last but not least, the super cute wicker Kate Spade bag was found secondhand and featured in this "Wowie Zowie" thrift haul post, as well as this fun floral outfit this year!

How are you wearing plaid this fall? I love it all year round...but it feels so right this time of year. Once New Year's hits, I start to taper off my plaid wearing, and tend to gravitate towards glitter, winter whites and heavy metals instead. ;)

This super cute Merona dress(brand new with tags) was selling for $3.50 at the Grand Haven, Michigan Goodwill a few weeks ago, and I scooped it up! Seen here with a vintage mock patent leather purse, vintage sunglasses and leopard print heels! 

Salmon and Roses: a new favorite color combination!

I'm so in love with this color combo! I like to pair salmon with unsuspecting colors as I've mentioned in prior blogs, and I find that I can often use it in place of red (where I am accenting with red).

PS--If you like my (no heat)hairstyle, for this look I simply slept in braids. See a before/after Instagram shot I took a week or so ago when I styled it the same way, here!

Who doesn't love a shirt dress? They're easy to find...easy to wear...functional, durable, stylish. There are also many ways you can style them!

--- Belt them
--- Add a scarf, cardigan, or tie
--- Try a statement necklace under the collar or brooch/pins on the collar
--- Try wearing bottom open with slip or entire shirt dress open with another dress underneath!

Menswear: It's so feminine

  

MENSWEAR: It's so feminine.

Don't you agree? I love it so, and I sometimes forget about the great collection of ties, suit vests and sweater vest that I have tucked away in my closet. Today it just felt right to pull them out and put a little something together (naturally the tie and blouse are thrifted, along with cap from Old Navy--it's literally about 8 years old!), Gap pin stripe suit vest (a clearance item), thrifted skinny jeans and also thrifted heels (red suede Nine West platform heels).

PRIMARY JAMS

OK, they are a little more bright and pastel-y than primary. Still, I can't seem to stay away from red...and blue...and vintage...and thrifting...and, the precious, my guitar. I snapped these pictures after a short band practice last night, and the entire outfit is thrifted--coral-y red dress, teal-y blue belt, blue suede slippers, blue earrings, and vintage blue Samsonite shoulder bag. This entire outfit totals only $10.

The guitar was a new purchase a few years ago, but many guitar whips and rowdy rock shows later, has the battle scars of a used piece. ;) Hey! Check out my musical projects here:

Home is where the "H" is...

Outfit is: Dress (Merona/Target: on clearance for $7.00), Vest (GAP--it was a gift, freebie!), necklace: strange quilted "H" brooch attached to another thrift chain, 99 cents from Goodwill, bag: "Sixteen", thrift for $2. I posted these shoes I wore on another thread but they were also a thrift find. I paired this with navy tights and decided to dress down the necklace for work (I am a music teacher and webmaster for a school in West Michigan and sometimes I tone outfits down a bit for the office). For hair, I did this fun messy updo by pulling my hair back into a loose pony, and then regular (not French) braiding in an upward direction. I then twisted and tucked the ends and secured the vintage butterfly clip, which was another little thrift treasure for 99 cents!
